Are you learning English for work or travel or as a hobby?
よしの:
I like traveling. That’s why I need it but right now basically I don’t study english so seriously. But I like to talk with people. So that’s why I keep learning English.
講師:
It is good to keep it up, right? So that you don’t lose the vocabulary that you’ve already learned. And then you also continue to have practice in conversing with people.
よしの:
For me, speaking English is a kind of I don’t know for example it means like I explore something new and sometimes I recognize other cultures and I found similarities and differences between us. That’s an exciting part.
講師:
That’s so interesting to hear.

よしの:
I think making money and studying something new are connected. But when I see education in Japan, some people focus on them like a kind of topic or like a method. If people don’t understand the connection between them we don’t actually understand it.
講師:
Yeah. I don’t know how it is in Japan, but certainly in the United States, going to college is really expensive. And so if there’s… and I imagine there are young people who don’t ever have that chance because it’s just not affordable. So to have an opportunity to gain skills during high school that will allow you then to pursue worthy careers that could be high paying for you, it’s certainly a wonderful option for everybody, especially those that might not have that opportunity otherwise.
よしの:
We have youtube and other streaming services so we can get education whatever we want. We have now many choices.
講師:
Exactly. It’s incredible, really, I know there are negatives too, but certainly there are a lot of positives.
よしの:
All of things have two sides, right?
講師:
Exactly.
